Winter is Coming!

Here are some tips when turning on your heat for the first time this year:

  1. Make sure you have clean air filters installed
  2. If you smell a burning smell, that is OK. The dust from the summer has settled into the heating elements of your furnace. That smell is the dust being burned up by the unit.
  3. The area around your heating unit must be clear. Objects stored next to the unit could be a fire hazard.
  4. Check your smoke and Carbon monoxide detectors and make sure they are working properly.

If you experience the burning smell lingering for more than a few minutes or your unit is not providing adequate heat you are better off shutting your unit down and calling a professional. This could be costly and dangerous if you skip over this step!
